Welcome to the Oceanart Online Photo Gallery. The Gallery contains
a wide range of ocean related images by Greg
McCarthy. Also look at our Surf Images website to view surf photos from around the coast.
Greg has been photographing surfing for over thirty five years
and since 1996 has been spending more and more of his time photographing
a wide range of ocean and beach scenes.
In 1997 Greg won the grand prize in the professional division
of the Canon Photo Contest for the Asia-Pacific region. A
similar photo to the one that won the prize also featured
on the cover of Tracks magazine's photo annual the same year.
The photos were taken with a Canon camera and fisheye lens
mounted on the front of a surfboard inside a waterproof housing
he made specifically for this shot.
The photograph was taken using a radio remote trigger also custom
made by Greg for the shot. The photo was taken at Shark Island,
a small rocky island about 500 metres out from Cronulla Point
a southern beachside suburb of Sydney in Australia. The photographs are shot on Fuji Velvia transparency
film and are available for a wide range of use. All images are taken with Canon EOS 1v 35mm film cameras and also Pentax 6 x 7 cm and Fuji 6 x 17 cm medium format film Cameras. Some of our more recent images have been photographed with either a Canon EOS 1Ds MkII or MkIII digital camera. Our film is scanned using a Imacon/Hassleblad Flextight 646 scanner.
